Lida Baday Black Burnout Slip Dress • Covered Button Back • Bias Cut Maxi

$145.00

Romantic gothic 90s Gorgeous.

Elegant vintage-inspired Lida Baday black maxi dress with the dreamiest movement. Semi-sheer burnout velvet-style floral texture throughout with a subtle dotted pattern that catches the light beautifully. Slim spaghetti straps, softly draped neckline, and a gorgeous row of covered buttons down the back.

The fit is very slinky 90s minimalist eveningwear — Carolyn Bessette meets understated cocktail dressing. Looks incredible styled simply, but also layers beautifully with jewellery, scarves, boots, blazers, etc.

—— Scarf not included ——

Details:

• Lida Baday

• Size 8

• Covered button back detail

• Bias-cut silhouette

• Semi-sheer burnout texture

• Fully lined through body

• Maxi length

Measurements (laid flat):

• 12” pit-to-pit

• 50” length

For reference, I’m 5’1” & 120 lbs.

“Bias cut” means the fabric is cut diagonally across the grain instead of straight up-and-down.

The effect is that the dress:

• drapes closer to the body

• moves fluidly

• skims curves instead of sitting stiff

• has that slinky, liquid look you see in 90s slip dresses

It’s why dresses like this tend to swirl and fall beautifully when walking — especially in lighter fabrics.

It became iconic in:

• 1930s Hollywood gowns

• 90s minimalist designers

• slip dresses from brands like Calvin Klein, Narciso Rodriguez, Ghost, etc.
