Early Canadian Style Cheveret Writing Table
A small dark wood writing table with folk-inspired cutout details and a beautifully timeworn finish.
The proportions make this an especially versatile piece — compact enough for an entryway, hallway, bedside setup, or laptop desk, but substantial enough to anchor a room with character. One of the best details is the double-sided drawer construction, allowing it to be used from either side rather than pushed flat against a wall.
It has the kind of surface wear that only comes with decades of use: scratches, old touch-ups, marks, and visible patina throughout the top that give it a deeply lived-in, collected feel. Definitely not a pristine refinished piece — this is for someone who appreciates warmth, history, and imperfection.
The silhouette and cutout side panels give it a slightly primitive cheveret feel with early Canadian and arts-and-crafts undertones.
Dimensions:
30”W x 19”D x 27”H
Condition:
Heavy visible wear throughout the top and edges, including scratches, marks, old touch-ups, and age-related imperfections. Structurally solid and full of character.
( Pictured slipper chair, wall art, pottery and lamp also for sale in the SHOP )
Pickup at Adelaide & Sherbourne, downtown Toronto. Delivery available throughout the GTA & beyond. Email sabrina@sunday-creative.com for rates. Alternately, you are welcome to send an Uber Courier.
