A compact and beautifully designed vintage desk by American of Martinsville, with a warm walnut finish, tapered legs and distinctive geometric metal pulls.
The desk features two drawers for storage and a clever extendable work surface that increases the width from 44" to 58", making it especially practical for smaller spaces. Closed, it has a neat, streamlined footprint; extended, it offers considerably more room for working, writing or styling.
Small inlaid “X” motifs at the corners of the top add a charming decorative detail and connect the desk visually to the other pieces in the suite.
A matching vintage chair is included at no additional charge. The chair has a woven rattan back and upholstered seat. Please note that the chair has a small hole in the rattan and some light staining to the seat, possibly from denim, as photographed.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear throughout. There are some marks, scratches and areas of finish wear to the desk, consistent with age and use. Structurally solid, with drawers and extension functioning well.
